The aftercare process starts before the surgery has even begun. We ask about your health and medical history to ensure we can tailor the entire process individually. Post-operative care is also one of the factors we use to determine which treatments are most suitable.
FUE hair transplant aftercare is much easier to manage than older, more outdated treatments. This is because the procedure is less invasive, minimises scarring, and facilitates healthy regrowth.

We make post-operative care as straightforward as possible while always providing a bespoke regime. To ensure all our patients are clear on the process for aftercare for FUE hair transplant or any other treatment, the clinic staff will discuss all the instructions with you before and after your procedure. The Hair Transplant Aftercare Package

All patients are required to take a 3-day antibiotic regimen to minimise swelling and reduce the risk of any infections. However, it is entirely normal to experience some swelling at this stage. Any other medications prescribed will be determined by the surgeon who performs the procedure. This will not be the same for every patient because we take into consideration existing conditions, the cause of hair loss, and other factors, such as age.
Dr Manish Mittal Hair Transplant Clinic will also provide specialist shampoos to care for your hair after the procedure. You must use these to protect the health and environment of the newly transplanted hair follicles. When you are at the clinic, the staff will also be able to demonstrate how to wash your hair and use the aftercare products to minimise the risk of dislodging the follicles. Again, this will also be listed in the information pack provided.
There may be some dryness and scabbing on the scalp, which tends to occur as the healing process speeds up (around four days after the procedure). We will guide you on managing and washing your hair to help remove scabs and dry skin as soon as possible and restore your scalp to normal.
After Your FUE Hair Transplant
We provide a 12-month check-up consultation for all patients (even if you experience no side effects). After a year, you will have completed a full regrowth term, and hair should have gone through a complete growth cycle. This means we can fully evaluate the results of the hair transplant and assess its success. At this point, our medical staff can evaluate whether future treatment is required/recommended. Due to the degree of hair loss, it is standard for some patients to require two sessions to achieve the desired final look.
More Regular Consultations
After a hair transplant, care is personalised to each patient. Some doctors may request that you return to the clinic for evaluation sooner, sometimes at 3- or 6-month intervals. Although hair transplant aftercare is gentle, some people can experience side effects, and some patients may believe their regrowth is not coming through as expected in the hair growth timeline.
