Undetectable by Design: James Dayton’s Hair Transplant with Dr Mani

When former professional footballer James Dayton decided to undergo a hair transplant, he wasn’t looking for the biggest procedure or the cheapest clinic. He was looking for one thing above all else: the right surgeon.

After a career in professional football — including playing for Crystal Palace — James understood how appearance could influence confidence. As a winger regularly in front of cameras, supporters and the media, his early-onset male pattern hair loss became something he grew increasingly conscious of through his twenties. Today he works in private insurance, advising ultra-high-net-worth individuals, elite athletes and high-profile clients — a professional life that places a premium on confidence, discretion and presentation.

James underwent a refined Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant of approximately 2,000 grafts, designed to recreate a mature, age-appropriate hairline while preserving donor reserves for the future. Fine single-hair grafts were placed along the frontal edge for an exceptionally soft transition, with density built behind using naturally occurring multi-hair follicular units. Every incision was created personally by Dr Manish Mittal.

At the time these photographs were taken, James was only five months into his hair restoration journey — roughly 30% of the final result, with substantial maturation, thickening and density still to come. His regimen includes finasteride 0.7mg daily, oral minoxidil 2.5mg daily and monthly Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP).

Seeing his five-month progress alongside his pre-operative photographs, even James was surprised by how much had already changed: “If this was my final result, Mani, I’d be happy.”
