FUE Hair Transplant by Dr. Mittal Hair Clinic
What is FUE?
FUE is hair transplant surgery where individual hair follicles are removed from a donor part of the body – most often from the sides and back of the head.
These individual follicles are then implanted in the areas to be treated.
Male cases of baldness often involve an area on the scalp called the horseshoe, which is usually the area to be treated.
How does it work?
During the procedure, individual follicles of between 1 and 4 hairs – are removed under local anaesthesia. The extraction process uses a microsurgical extraction tool, between 0.6 mm and 1.0 mm in diameter, to remove hair follicles from a designated donor area.
The surgeon will then use specialist microsurgical needles with which he punctures the area of the scalp to receive the grafts. Our surgeons are highly skilled at blending the hair in, inserting the follicles at an angle and density-matching the original hair, so it resembles a natural and realistic hair pattern.
Here is more information on how fue hair transplants work.
How long does it take?
An FUE hair procedure can be performed in one long session or several smaller ones. Although it tends to be more time-consuming than strip surgery, it does not leave scars like strip surgery.
The time required for an FUE procedure can vary, but it depends on how many grafts are required. A more minor procedure of approximately 200 grafts can be completed in a couple of hours. A more extensive procedure of 2,500 to 3,000 grafts will require a session stretching over two days.
How long does it take to recover?
Fue hair tranplants do not require large areas of the scalp as a donor region. There will be no incision marks left on the donor region, only very small puncture marks which will not be easily visible.
Minimal discomfort will be felt by the patient, and recovery time will be no more than seven days.
How long do results last?
The results of FUE are permanent. Expect the initial hair transplanted to be shed two weeks after surgery. After this, new healthy hair will grow back in.
